SO, YOU WANT TO BE A MODERN MYSTIC?

March 24, 2017

The new meaning of soul is creativity and mysticism.
These will become the foundation of the new psychological
type and with him or her will come the new civilization.

Otto Rank

I have just done a demo at the College of Psychic Studies.

I don’t do them so often these days but as a newly trained neophyte I took my new found interest in Spiritualism very seriously. I still do of course, but with the years, I have gathered new skills and have wondered along different avenues all in the name of service.

I remember with great affection those early days of visiting various churches and centres. I learned a lot. I could say that this is where my greatest teacher was spirit. There is nothing like standing on platform and handing it over to your Guide, quelling your anxious breast and getting on with it! Spirit taught me to trust, to believe and to heal. It is all about love. Love never dies

I learned that as you heal others, you get healing yourself.

I learned that spirit work with all that you are, all that you have been and all that you can become. I still believe that and the magic of the universe is such that people in your sessions, your environment, your day to day will mirror that in some shape or form.

Being of service, that was my calling.

As my family tucked into Sunday lunch I would be making my way to a church to be a good ambassador for spirit. That was entirely my intention. It was a good foundation and I am very thankful for it.

Spirit is still central to my work.

You can hear the ancestors and guides in the cards, in the aura, in the ether. They ask you to give them a language to merge with the conscious world, a voice that can be heard. Relationships never die.

It takes a long time to develop your craft.

There are so many different skills that have to be practiced. Your path has to open up to you and you have to learn to walk it. It is not what the mystic has read, it is not what the mystic has discussed but it is what the mystic has experienced that truly makes a mystic. That experience becomes your truth and that truth becomes your philosophy.

In a world of inequality we are each a creation of the other, prince and pauper, rich man, poor man, old and young and so on…each co-creates their world in the reflection of the other.

To love as we would like to be loved, to forgive as we would like to be forgiven.

There is always choice, we come into this world either for the sake of self alone or for the sake of self to share. We have so much to offer the world. Hospitality, support, gratitude, aid and assistance.

When we walk the path of the mystic…

In this messy and uncertain life we are in fact recovering the aspects of self that have been buried and denied the process of transformation.  We begin to view the world through a window onto the realms of a subtle but multi-faceted reality. The mystic experiences a new authenticity that does not belong to the everyday and the artificial. However, no experience is ever wasted and the modern mystic turns the normalcy of living into pure gold. The mystic cannot afford to be in opposition to his/her inner potential. Magical qualities are found in the smallest detail, spirit is alive and well in all things.

The role of the modern mystic is to encourage a living spiritual relationship that is a gift from spirit which validates the ‘psychic’ world and makes it real in the heart of the seeker.

You know if you are a mystic if you:
  • Desire to know more about spiritual subjects.
  • Yearn to develop gifts that will connect you to spirit.
  • Have an abiding interest in the extraordinary and miraculous.
  • See spiritual value in the most ordinary of tasks.
  • Find wonder and delight in the revelation of the unseen.
  • Wish to be of service to others.
  • Seek the experience of the developing psyche.
