Top Tips for Intuition

“Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have empirically learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored.”

― Brian Weiss, Messages from the Masters

I would imagine that most people reading this newsletter have a love of Tarot.

There is a joy in the feeling of the cards slipping from hand to hand in a shuffle. There is something very soothing and satisfying in the action. It’s the smell of old cards and the vibrancy of the image, a gallery of pictures that are also 78 best friends and that’s just for starters. We then have to read them whether it is for ourselves or for someone else. The real joy is seeing and feeling these beauties in action.

I have found that some decks are fabulous collectors’ items.

They might be quirky or topical or just plain stunning almost too lovely to be a working deck. I enjoy these packs for personal perusal. I don’t particularly like busy decks as I find that they can interfere with how I relate to the card and the client. I am always on the lookout for a fabulous deck which will be a veritable work horse. There are some decks like that which love to work. As soon as they hit that table they will begin to do their thing and are a joy. My “go to” decks are the Rider Waite Smith and the Morgan Greer. The simple, clean cut imagery enable the intuitive faculty whereas busy decks can impede and hinder. (This is true for me but others may have different findings.) Having said that there are some glorious decks out there and I appreciate the deck designers; without them we would surely find our work a lot harder!

In the past I have engaged in some very annoying conversations where someone might suggest that using Tarot cards is not spiritual, psychic/intuitive or God forbid you should attempt to be mediuimstic with them, Fie, I say Fie!!

Tarot is an embodiment of spirit and as spirit brings a language coming from the deeper regions of inner wisdom. Tarot enables us to give the cards a language.

Through Tarot we give spirit a voice. The symbols in the imagery found in the cards, along with the archetypal essence offer a platform and are a starting point for us to connect to this inner language. Tarots, in effect, are the keys which unlock the wisdom. We can’t intuit what we don’t know. I think that this is amazing; all that living, learning, all those jaunts around the sun through eternity, all that collective knowledge and we can use it for the greater good, commonly known as intuition.

So, how do we work intuitively with the cards, here are some tip tips for you to consider.

  • Before you begin, sit quietly for a while, get yourself out of the way, you can’t connect to the intuitive self if you are thinking about what you are going to do at work or what is there to watch on the TV.
  • Breathe into your body as if it is a centre of energy, if you have knowledge of the chakras then maybe take some time to visualise of the chakra points and switch on the lights in each one! Don’t forget to ask your Guides to draw near.
  • Engage with the person in front of you, what do they feel like, make note of any thoughts or images that come to mind.
  • Draw a card for this initial connection. You will be surprised at how closely the card energetically embraces the imagery or feelings you received.
  • Imagine the card to be a painting in a gallery, you are looking at this card and unpacking its meaning, apply the meaning to the reading.
  • Tarot is textured by being multi layered, work with all the layers.
  • Consultations are not passive experiences, discuss with your person the meaning of the imagery.
  • As each card comes up have a dialogue with them, explore with them various aspects of the querent’s life where are the cards taking you?
  • Trust and believe the information given to you, you have it for a reason.
  • Courage and confidence is the thing that will help you the most.
  • Don’t be afraid to state the obvious.
  • You may find that you are saying the same thing to all your clients on a particular day, it could be that they are mirroring you or there is something in the collective that is recurring in everyday terms or possibly synchronicity being what it is.
  • Intuition is like a river, dive in and go with it. The river will take you to the heart of the matter.
  • Come from the heart. Judgmentalism and worry or fear will block the compassion for another sentient being. After all we are reading for the spirit on the journey through the eternal, only love is real.
