Judgement and the Rebellion.

“Lose yourself,
Lose yourself in this love.
When you lose yourself in this love,
you will find everything.
Lose yourself,
Lose yourself.
Do not fear this loss,
For you will rise from the earth
and embrace the endless heavens.
Lose yourself,
Lose yourself.
Escape from this earthly form,
For this body is a chain
and you are its prisoner.
Smash through the prison wall
and walk outside with the kings and princes.
Lose yourself,
Lose yourself at the foot of the glorious King. When you lose yourself
before the King
you will become the King.
Lose yourself,
Lose yourself.
Escape from the black cloud
that surrounds you.
Then you will see your own light
as radiant as the full moon.
Now enter that silence.
This is the surest way
to lose yourself. . . .
What is your life about, anyway?—
Nothing but a struggle to be someone,
Nothing but a running from your own silence.”

― Rumi, Rumi: In the Arms of the Beloved
I was thinking today about the power of giving and receiving a reading; the symbiosis between reader and client.

What drives the seeker to the Tarot table and what passion fires the reader to, time and time again, consult the cards in search of an insight or an inkling of what path the cards will take the seeker on now?

A reading is an act of love.

A reading is where the teller of Tarot goes into their soul and reaches for the compassion and the curiosity of life itself to hold the space for another, as we are all held by a higher consciousness. One has to love people to do this job, the natural curtain twitchers, interested in the minutia in the lives of the human caught in a vast sea of experience. It is not a human with a spirit but a spirit with a human and it is to this that we turn our interest. Our holding space is not for the seeking human but rather the spirit emerging from the human, physical experience, the spirit, remembering its blueprint to expand and grow the universe in its own unique way. That is the ultimate goal, the rewards of acceptance and peace with our physical existence and the answer for the existential questions of what is the purpose of my reality?

Deep? For sure. But why not? It is not for us to blithely skip through the machinations of someone’s life but it is for us to support that spirit as it finds a path towards its own extraordinary reason for being.

A reading is an act of love, a reading is an act of rebellion.

I say rebellion as we live in times where self-love and self-nurture are concepts, a reading rails against the normality of consumerism and lack and want. A reading seeks to fulfill and for the spirit to prosper and to rise above that which may only serve stagnation and death.

Whatever situation or question the seeker brings to the table, Tarot will speak of life, harmony, truth and self-awareness. There is the rebellion...right there.

I drew the Judgement card. How apt, especially when we look at it through the lens of its beautiful name.

Judgement. Al Baith. The raiser of the dead, the awakener, the resurrector. By love, the dead are made living.

Al Baith is one who chooses who shall awaken, who shall be sent forth. The one who decides to raise up and awaken the dead. One who resurrects and rouses mankind. One who sends light into the world and one who despatches messengers into the world.

Al Baith is about stimulating action, stirring up activity, it resurrects those in the graves, bringing things into motion. This name causes determination, manifests knowledge of the unknown and reveals that which is concealed in the heart.

This name and indeed this card inspire people to undertake lofty objectives on the battlefields and removes the whisperings of darkness.

Egotism, lust and fleshly desires and love of the world have been banished, one is able to revive through knowledge and wisdom, dead hearts that have been killed by ignorance.

Rebellion is life itself.

To live life and to give the heart its freedom and power to rise above the stuff that pulls us down. Rebellion is to choose life and the desire to connect to others who share in that desire. Rebellion is to know love, show love and grow love.

  1. What holds me back from my joy?

  2. What can I do about it?

  3. How do I see myself?

  4. How do I see others who are on a similar path?

  5. How do I hold space for others?

  6. Outcome.
