The material world is simply an expression of the mind; that's what so many fail to see. We're so dependent on what is before us that we discount our intuition. Yet if one dismisses instinct, how can one understand or believe in a world that exists beyond one's sight?”

The Age of Aquarius.

It seems that we are getting ever nearer the point in history that has been discussed, debated, prophesied and even politicised, we are indeed in the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. As far as I am aware this should come into our physical periphery of vision in December when Pluto and Jupiter make a grand gesture and the new age really does trickle down into our lives.

Apparently, Aquarius is the significator of all things technological and as such we shouldn’t be surprised that our world will be viewed through the square proximities of a screen. One can only hope that someone invents a round one or some other tantalising shape. I have often bemoaned the squareness of how we create our habitats so something a little less uniform perhaps would be nice. It would seem that we can also connect to the world, technologically speaking, through glasses, ermm not sure about that one.

The global village is truly our oyster.

This is especially true for those that have made the decision to be of service. We can be a worthy ambassador of spirit by spreading the proverbial gospel of peace, love and healing to all. If we have a firm belief that we have a home on high, which we return to and which has a ready made population of a vast entourage of guides, inspirers, co-walkers, and soul friends then the internet or should we say in this instance, the ethernet is the very requirement for such servitude.

As a neophyte medium, I was entranced by the biography of Emma Hardinge Britten.

She was a Victorian medium of note who took it upon herself to travel the high seas to America and Australia. This was a feat which took weeks and weeks and dressed in those long skirts and a mother in tow is frankly unenviable. However, she did a marvellous job of lecturing and indeed proving survival of life after death to the chattering classes and illuminati alike. Another notary would be Robert Owen who was a predecessor of Emma’s. He initiated the beginnings of spiritualism in the UK, in Ilkley no less. In fact Emma was also a northerner and was fond of communicating with him when he shuffled off his mortal coil but we digress. The point I want to make is that Owen was the founder of the Co-operative Society and the intention behind spiritualism was the idea of community. He espoused that strength was found in the collective, a message which is ringing true today. Interdependence in the form of wisdom and love doesn’t die. Technology’s major advantage is that it can cross the continents in seconds and adequately utilised it can be a wonderful tool for expression and communication...on any level. I often wonder what Emma and Robert would have made of this technological era we live in.

Like so many, I spend time perusing the social media highways.

Probably too much of my time is spent on social media and like so many I am susceptible to the towering undulations between the sublime and the downright ridiculous. It is with this in mind that I recall a recent thread that I came across very recently. A self-professed medium was decrying the value of Tarot cards and he basically stated that any idiot could read them and that mediumship was the only authentic and true way of communicating with spirit. It was all I could do to hold myself back from not wading right in and offering a duel!

However, a voice within assured me that his rude remarks were from a place of frustration and inexperience. He couldn’t turn a Tarot card let alone understand the finer subtleties of what a dialogue with spirit means. Everything is spirit, right? Tarot is an embodiment of spirit and through the narrative inspired from the cards we give spirit a voice. The cards are not a tool. They are the picture book of divine wisdom. Tarot is the focal point of the wisdom and knowledge in the mind which is reflected in the mirror of the soul.

This is not the first time I have come across such vulgar and crass assumptions.

Over the years I have had many discussions in churches and centres about the validity of the cards and their exceptional ability to cross the field of resonance to connect with a loved one or guide. Tarot is a representative of consciousness and as humans we are a physical manifestation of that.

I have lost count of the spirit communications I have undertaken, with or without the cards. Each time was a beautiful window to a place of compassion, deep insight and healing. We must now prepare to step into a brave new world and take spirit communication to a new paradigm. As we raise our vibration so do those in the spirit world.

I am looking forward to seeing how the great work unfolds itself in the coming years.

I am sure that its essential nature shall be perennial, as eternal as life itself. Whilst nothing can replace the sacred fire of passion and learning in the classroom, the intimacy of online psychic and mediumistic development calls out to the pioneer spirit of the intrepid spiritual adventurer.

And finally..

Quotes from Teachings of Silver Birch

What a glorious message we have for your world of matter - a message that makes men free and teaches them to rejoice in their divine heritage; a message that teaches them to throw off shackles and bonds; a message that teaches them to rejoice in the fulness of spiritual knowledge; a message that shows them how to live not only on the planes of matter but on the planes of spirit; a message that brings them beauty, love and wisdom, understanding, truth and happiness; a message that speaks of service, service, service.
